Up for auction here is an absolute rare as paddock find. It is a 1975 Wellcraft 24 ft " Airslot " Trihull. Not a 100% claim but would very much doubt if there is another in Australia of this type - let alone a hardtop model. Some in America but thats a long way away and have not ever seen one there with a hardtop like this oneWe purchased many years ago.Hull in itself is in excellent condition. Had a banged up cabin top adjoining the hull which we had professionally repaired ( see photo ).
Designed by early Wellcraft design engineer Richard Cole in USFor a bit of history see :1 You tube video - Wellcraft 24 ft "Old school in Miami "2- Search threads on Wellcrafts on the forum- " The Hull Truth " We have only managed to do a bit of work on this beautiful old girl so far. We have over 50 boats in our collection to move on over the next few years. This one deserves to be done by someone who has both time and respect for the classics. We do want to sell it but it wont be given away so if your a lowballer look away elsewhere pleaseIt came with the original Mercruiser and leg with only 648 hours. A video of it running can be supplied. This boat is best to be moored in the end.One wheel bearing will need to be replaced or better still the complete hubThe trailer is NOT included in this auction but if required we will consider selling to the new owner if necessary.Alternatively we can arrange loading our end to a semi /tilt tray with on site cranes. The floor and stringers are rock solid as are the motor bearing timbers. The transom is rock solid but will need some internal work done to be perfect.Could be podded if required .One glass window pane is missing on the starboard side. The bow rail needs welding repairs.Comes with a fibreglass hardtop as shown in photos.Internal headNo cushions.Mercruiser control arm fitted.Gauges still there but will need renewalHas internal ( above floor under gunnels ) side mounted alloy fuel tanks on port and starboard sides which are approx 80 litres each.Has very deep freeboard so is well suited for fishing and/or diving useThe hull is in very good condtion with no osmosis evidentHull has had intial sodablast then sanded back with 120 -240 grit then 2 coats of marine epoxy primer above water line and between gunnels, excepting transom area. Will require new antifouling.
