Timber Ex Cray Boat 30ft Wooden Boat Project registered and sitting on a commercial mooring in Kogarah Bay Sydney NSW. Boat sale includes the following: Boat in present condition with full deck shelf up restoration, new or modified forward and aft deck beams, 25mm ply epoxy sheathed decks. New companionway and wheelhouse carlins all epoxy sheathed into decks. Deck sheathing runs over the upper portion of the top sides and up the stanchions and bulwarks effectively giving the boat a fibreglass lid. Decks are finished in Northane two pack with gloss boarders and flattened anti-slip centre panels.
Engine room and catch tank access panels are of identical construction and finish as the decks. The bulwarks, companionway and wheelhouse carlins are all finished in international top lack. Existing spotted gum capping rails have been dressed, reinstalled and refinished in Sikens. New hardwood timber upper and lower rub rails epoxy laminated to the top sides. Top sides have been cut back and all seams raked, caulking hardened up or replaced and re-puttied, faired and currently sits in three coats of Jotun Alkid oil base primer.
In winter 2015 she was slipped and given extensive attention to any seams showing signs of fatigue/movement, major raking, hardening up and recaulking was performed, then primed, anti-fouled and relaunched. Engine room interior has been stripped and re-coated in oil base primer and top coat. The focsle has been stripped, refinished as above and fitted out with ply, solid timber and marine carpet, v-berth configuration with lower storage, forward anchor chain stowage compartment and new companionway stairs. Original plumbing for manual head is still in place. New forward and aft Sampson posts, Bomar hatch and Lewmar windlass have been installed.
Engine is a 80hp Ford Lees with newage hydraulic gear box, motor is seized and gear box has been semi dismantled and in my opinion should be considered scrap metal however, the marinising gear could be of some value. Motor is disconnected and ready to be removed. Comes with a Perkins 4.236 Factory Marinised Engine with Borg Warner Velvet Drive Hydraulic Gearbox. I purchased this motor from the Marine mechanic at Point Pipper Marina who removed it from a launch that was undergoing a big dollar restoration including a smaller Volvo Penta repower. Includes wiring harness, instrument panel, a timber box of small parts and service parts that I have purchased, as well as the original service manual.
This motor is what I had intended to repower the cray boat. Comes with a Gardner 4LW Factory Marinised Engine with Gardner 2UC Gearbox that has been re-engineered to a direct drive configuration. Gardner twin pot fuel filter. Big heat exchanger with handmade custom header tank to suit. Savage vertical heat exchanger with integral header tank.
Jabsco raw water pump. This motor ran keel cooling in its previous application and I obtained the heat exchangers and pump myself. The original seller of this motor advised it as being low hours with an overhaul being recently completed. It was sold due to an apparent gearbox issue which I tried to resolve by sending the gearbox to JL Diesel in Tweed Heads who visually checked it and sent it back with a replacement spider that is part of the connection between the box and fly wheel. I am presuming the broken spider was the issue.
But this has not been tested.Brand new wheelhouse of clear Oregon, Cedar and Celery top Pine, marine ply and epoxy construction. Roofs filleted ready to sheath, comes with double bi cloth and epoxy resin. Rest of the cabin exterior is ready for paint or sheathing. Comes with rear doors and hardware ready to fit, sliding side door with brass track system ready to fit. Comes with 6mm laminated grey tinted window glazing with all beads machined and cut in ready to install.
Helm has been fitted, interior is blank and ready to coat, it is of a clear finish grade. Parts that I have stored for the boat include original stainless steel hand rails including brass base fittings, brass rub rail protectors, original Oregon mast refinished in Sikens with International Top Lack upper, original stainless steel rigging and brass fittings, self-furling jib in poor condition, original boom finished in Sikens, stainless steel boom canopy frame with canvas, original complete Hydrive steering system, morse controls and cables, original manual head and all original electrics removed from boat which in my opinion are showing their age. Currently the boat is moored at Kogarah Bay Sydney NSW with mooring fees paid up to April of 2017 with the option to continue the existing arrangement with Endeavour Marine Services. The boat being in this position allows easy access from Botany Bay Yacht Club where Endeavour Marine Services operate from, with access to a slip way, temporary berthing for maintenance on week days and a swing crane that can be used for motor installation and wheelhouse install. These services are available at a cost.
