Hello.I am relisting with a price drop of $1000 as my parents are keen to sell due to non use. Details remain the same as follows.... I am listing my fathers boat 'Kestrel' . She is a Compass 28 which he bought back around August 2014. Unfortunately he had plans for his retirement when he bought her that haven't worked out. She is mored at East Coast Marina , Manly Harbour Brisbane.
She has been out in Moreton Bay three times since he got her. When he purchased Kestrel he had a condition report/survey for insurance purposes and she was found to be structurally good and in average overall condition. After the report was done (as she was out of the water for the inspection) she had the following done professionally - any and all osmosis present in the hull was cut out and repaired, the hull was cut and polished, repainted where required, and anti-fouled (this is in August/september 2014). The prop was cleaned and polished, and the shaft seals and bearings were replaced. At the time it was a bit over 5K of work.
She in powered by a Yanmar SE8. The first day he took her out, I was with him, the engine got her out of the Marina and then cut out. Turned out the head was clagged up with calcium deposits that blocked the water inlet to the head. The head was removed by a mechanic and taken away for a clean and skim. A new set of gaskets were made, new water pump impeller, new water inlet piping, and a better quality water filter for the inlet hose was fitted.
On closer examination the exhaust system appeared to have been cobbled together so I had that all replaced with the correct specification new parts as well. (this was professionally done in 2015). So the engine beats strong and all pipes and exhaust fitting are as the should have been originally. Going from the paperwork/condition report I have, Kestrel also features the following: Keel hung tillerShe is fibreglass with teak trim. A 120 litre tank for cockpit shower in keel and 50 ltr bl under the Vberth that feeds the sink and can be transfered to the keel tank.
Yanmar 8hp diesel with 30 litre tank driving a 3 blade fixed prop Electronics (all working) 12 volt DC ships power only.GME Gx600A WHF radio , Raymarine ST2000 tiller pilot, 2x 46 watts solar panels above Bimini, 2x 100 amp maintenance free batteries with a rotary battery switch for single or joint battery selection. A garmin 160 fish/finder depth sounder, Humminbird 958C GPS/depth sounder An electric TMC head, a two burner Metho stove. She also has a 12 volt fridge fitted in the galley. She has a bruce anchor with approx 30mtrs of galv chain and there is a plough anchor in the bow anchor locker. There are fire extinquishers and a fire blanket. Manual bilge pump and submersable bilge pump with an automatic switch.
She is rigged as a masthead sloop. Main sail and jib are good with the jib being a Profurl Genoa furler, main features lazy jacks. All standard rigging is 1x19 stainless steel wire. I pulled apart one winch and regreased it about a year ago. On recent inspection I replaced three ships fenders and also noticed the boom cover is torn and will need to be replaced.
Hi, as of the 5/3/17. I had the diesel fuel system drained and cleaned as the fuel was looking off/milky. Engine fires straight away. I also found an extra sail, which I suspect is a storm main, stored on-board. She is 8.84 meters longBeam is 2.81Draft 1.30Displacement 3600kgsRegistered till August 2017.
Any questions, please ask. Genuine boat that needs to be sold for a genuine reason. An inspection is always recommended and can be arranged.
